Programming
The training philosophy at Performance Fitness is one based on FUNCTION. We base our programming around restoring, maintaining, and improving our clients ability to function as a human machine.
We regularly use the Functional Movement Screening process to determine where our client’s are, and how far they have come.

Our trainers are well versed in functional movement training, and have the ability to develop and implement a program based around your needs and desires. For more information on our trainers and their training, please check out our Staff page.
You may ask, what is function?
Strength
Strength to move the way we want to, and the way we should. Strength to support ourselves, even in the trickiest of positions. Strength to make corrections when they need to be corrected in order to maintain balance and stability. Strength to be confident in our ability. Strength is the basis of movement, and our programs are rooted in strength.
Mobility
The striking difference between mobility and flexibility is your ability to create the movement. A joint can be flexible through a range of motion, if pushed upon by an outside force. Only you can make a joint mobile through a given range of motion. To that end, our programs make sure that your mobility, your movement, is as free of limitation as possible.
Core
The center of how we move. So much more than we think it is, and what we give it credit for. The ability to lock things up, or to make minute adjustments. The ability to protect and stabilize our spine and our movement. The core of our movement, of all movement, starts in the middle and works its way out. The center of strength, stability, and movement is in the core.
Balance
Not the wobble board kind. Balanced strength between push and pull, agonist and antagonist. Balanced mobility between front and back, and left and right. Balance between work and recovery. Strength and conditioning. Muscle and fat. Exercise and nutrition.
Conditioning
Laying it out, putting it on the line. High intensity and short recovery. Being able to create a true effort for extended periods of time. Breaking a sweat and knowing it’s not going to break you. Using the power you have created and using it to do work.
Some products that we feel may affect your function positively and almost immediately:
Minimalist shoes increase feedback from the incredibly sensitive bottoms of our feet to improve our balance and proprioception. The lack of support also allows the natural muscles and connective tissue of our feet and lower legs to provide us with the spring and shock absorption we need. Contact us for to talk about the integration of minimalist footwear in your programming.
